Colorado foreclosure map
Insights
- There is a north-south ridge of higher rates along the Colorado "front range" and centered on the State capital Denver.
- All counties have some foreclosure activity, ranging from .1% to over 6%.
- A rough guess of the "average" rate might be that perhaps 2% of the state"s housing is in foreclosure.
- As with all incidence data, rates may be less reliable for less populated regions (counties).
Revisions and discussion
This map was modified from the default ArcGIS output map as follows:
- Map colors based on a "more = darker" palette.
- The legend values are displayed with higher values at the top.
- The legend rate values are shown to only 2 significant figures.
- Context and location are provided by surrounding states and the US locator map.
- The scale bar simplified to show one division and a simple value.
Technology and sources
- Foreclosure data were joined to US county data, analyzed, and mapped using ESRI ArcGIS.
- Output graphic cropped using Corel PaintShop.
- US map data from ESRI.
